- Does it cost more to book through Silver Creek Outfitters than direct with the lodge?
- No. We absolutely will not charge a penny more for our services, than if you book direct through the lodge. Even our hosted trips cost the same. The advantage to booking with us is, you can tap into vast amounts of fishing knowledge from our experts, we ensure superb room and guide assignments for our guests, and you generally have someone to look out for your interests when at the lodge. We can also assist with trip insurance, gear, travel and more!
- How do I begin the booking process?
- Once you have found a destination that sparks some interest, simply call Terry Ring at Silver Creek Outfitters and let him give you all the details. If you decide the trip is for you, Terry will call his lodge contacts and check for availability. Remember to book early for the best available dates to fit your schedule. If the lodge has the space, you simply make a 50% deposit for your trip and then the preparation process will follow. Terry will send you outfitting guides, itineraries, and help with charter flights, trip insurance, essential gear and more. The final deposit will be due 90 days prior to your departure.
- Are there activities for the non-angling companion?
- Some lodges have a variety of activities for the non-angler, and some do not, unless you count sitting in the shade relaxing. We can certainly point out the lodges that have these extra activities and will steer you away from those that don’t.
- How many people are at the lodge?
- Lodge capacity varies from the smaller lodges that will take about 6 anglers per week, to larger ones that may take as many as 20. Regardless of the size, Silver Creek Outfitters works with the lodges that are best suited to our clients expectations. Meaning, even the bigger lodges we work with have plenty of space, comfortable rooms and a resort feel to them. Smaller lodges are great places for intact groups that want to have the entire lodge facility, all the guides and fishing grounds to themselves.
- What is the advantage to a hosted trip?
- The advantages here are endless. When we host a trip, we normally have a lodge exclusive. We will book the entire lodge so that our guests can travel together with a Silver Creek representative who will make sure all their needs are met. The Silver Creek representative will be sure that all anglers are with the right guides for their skill set. They will see that rooms are assigned properly and that guests get to the lodge in a hassle free way. They also act as a go-between for the guests and staff to ensure anglers are well taken care of. A host also can help a lot with fishing skills and gear, making sure peoples rods are rigged properly, fly selection is perfect, and can even brush you up on your casting skills when necessary.
- Is airfare included in the price, what is included?
- Airfare is not included in trip prices with the exception of a few lodges that do include the charter flight to the lodge, which is normally the last leg of the trip. Generally prices include all lodging and meals and all guided fishing for 7 nights and 6 days. The only additional costs on most trips are bar tabs and gratuity. Guests are responsible for their international flights, although Silver Creek Outfitters will help with the details and arrange charters when need be. We can also help recommend our favorite travel agents to help secure the best flight times and prices.
- Do I have to make my stay 7 nights and 6 days?
- For the most part, no. Most anglers choose to stay for the week, as most destinations take some small effort to get to, and anglers want to maximize their time in these areas. Most lodges will allow shorter, and even longer stays than the typical 7 nights and 6 days depending on the season and availability.
- Will the lodges have flies and gear?
- A few lodges have fly-tying areas and a few local patterns for sale, but most guests need to arrive with the proper tackle. Silver Creek Outfitters excels at keeping the proper gear and flies for all the lodges we represent in the store. Whatever you may need for your trip, Silver Creek Outfitters has it, and is only a phone call away. We specialize in stocking the right gear, for the right species. Have you ever tried to find a 9 weight Tarpon line? It turns out, this hardly exists in our industry, but Silver Creek has them!
- Are these trips suitable to the novice angler?
- Almost all the trips have something for everyone and most guides can teach you the necessary skills. We really encourage first time anglers, or first time saltwater anglers, to join our hosted trips for that little bit of extra instruction from our representatives. These representatives will also get you set up with the guides better known for exceptional work with beginners. If you are not on a hosted trip we will still let the lodges know exactly what your expectations are.
- Is my money refundable?
- Unfortunately all deposits are non-refundable due to a short booking season at most lodges that have limited space. Silver Creek Outfitters does provide our guests with access to trip insurance through a very reputable company. We highly encourage the purchase of this insurance as it will cover most reasons for not making the trip. The nominal cost will also cover lost or stolen fishing gear that can add up to thousands of dollars. This small purchase will ensure peace of mind and allow you to make care free bookings months in advance.
