Mangrove Cay Club
The premium lodge in the Bahamas at many levels is the Mangrove Cay Club. Unsurpassed accommodations, a world class chef and arguably some of the world's best trophy bonefish fishing combine to make the Mangrove Cay Club the pinnacle of what a fly fishing lodge should be. Liz Bain, the lodge manager, makes sure things run like clockwork. Her guide staff is highly trained and consists of the island's native Bahamians, well known for superior guiding skills and well educated in the nuances of flats fishing.
When booked to capacity, sixteen guests stay in eight separate duplex cottages all within a stones throw of the main lodge facility. They are close enough for convenience, but spread out enough for privacy, and quiet. Each consists of a sitting room, separate bedroom, well appointed bathroom, and a deck overlooking the water. The Mangrove Cay Club’s biggest star is Chef Iyke Moore. He uses the freshest ocean catch as a base for some truly amazing table faire. The niceties at Mangrove Cay are as extensive as the fishery. Year in and year out, the Mangrove Cay Club treats anglers as the ultimate in fishing resorts.
Combing the flats of Andros Island
Fly-Fishing on Andros is an incredible experience. The name of the game here is big bonefish. Like any fishery, Andros waters may go into a lull and the bonefishing may get tough, but when this area is on…anglers dreams come true. To add more fun, take a calm day outside the reef where Dorado, Wahoo, and Tuna can all be fly targets within minutes of shore, or night fish from the lodge dock with floating plugs for Jacks and Shark! During the guide hours witness enormous schools of enormous bonefish within one of the most surreal environs on our planet, namely the West Coast and interior island of Andros. Stunningly beautiful landscapes await, along with hidden creeks that may hold a 100 pound Tarpon, and flats that are so big you can almost make out the curvature of the earth.
The Mangrove Cay Club is for the serious fly angler who also wants the finest in accommodations and attention. It is also a bonefish trophy hunters paradise, where the world record begs to be broken. Andros Island is a very unique fishery, Silver Creek Outfitters has a long tradition of fishing at the Mangrove Cay Club and we can help you with every detail of your trip to make sure no opportunity for that trophy of a lifetime is missed.

Bonefish Fishing on Andros Island Feb 1, 2007
I have been bonefish fishing a lot the last few years, but not on Andros. I long to get back to her shores and fish there again. I still see myself there standing on a flats boat somewhere along the fabled west coast of the Island. White sands and green mangroves abound, and the blue of the sky and the white of the clouds intoxicate the senses with primary colors.
